What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program designed to help people gain a broad and general fitness. CrossFit programming conventrates on constantly vaned functional movements performed at high intensity to achive overall physical fitness so people are prepared for any physical challange.
Greg Glassman, founder of CrossFit, says: ``Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, preasses, C&J and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, pressses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits and hols. Bike, run, swim, row, etc. hard and fast. Five or six days a week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.``

In 2010 I dedicated myself to a healthy lifestyle. I ended up transforming my body after shredding 80lbs of fat! I turned that passion for health and fitness into a career. I started my very own personal training company, Shredfat Inc, back in 2012, and then partnered up to own a CrossFit box. I remember the first time I tried CrossFit, I got my butt handed to me by women and older men, but I loved it. I wanted to come right back the next day and do better. I kept showing up, and you know what? I kept getting better. It was like nothing I had ever experienced before. There was no going back. I'm very passionate about helping others live a healthier lifestyle. Our Live Free family continues to grow stronger by the day. Join us in our Live Free Movement!

My love of fitness started early on when at 12 years old, I got my first weight set and began a life long journey that been a source of constant evolution physically, mentally, and spiritually. This love affair led to my career in fitness when I began attending Florida International University in 2001 where I studied Exercise Physiology and played football. During this time I started my own Personal Training Company New Level Fitness and began working at the Downtown Athletic Club. I received my degree in Exercise Physiology in 2006 and gained a wealth of experience running my own business and working at a high end health club. After four years of training over 25 people a week I decided I needed more stability in order to support my wife and three children. I then became a firefighter for Miami Dade County, and during this time I also began my career as a professional mixed martial artist. I did both for 7 years before I got severly exhuasted from the constant physical and mental stress. I left both in 2013 and opened Livefree Crossfit where I can combine my passion of helping others and remain competive at the same time. I am now first a father, husband, and gym owner, who has found balance between work, training, and family.I am currently training to compete in the 2019 crossfit games as a master and are in the process of opening another gym. I am also co owner and C.E.O of Rxnutrition a individualized catering company for athletes.

Peter is highly passionate and enthusiastic individual in exercising and all sports alike. Undoubtedly hoping to share all his knowledge with all those he encounters to promote a holistic approach to overall health and wellness. Being around gym environments since an early adolescent age ignited his fire in exercising. His mother had a major influence as she taught aerobic/spinning classes part time and being a former massage therapist herself, exposed and fueled his fire to pursue a career as healthcare practitioner. Peter was a multi-sport athlete in high school playing varsity football, wrestling, track & field, and cross-country. Senior year he suffered a severe knee injury which restricted him from playing any college sports; during this time of rehab, he found his new passion in cycling and endurance sporting, triathlons. Competing in speed triathon’s and doing his first Half-Ironman at the age of 19.

I discovered CrossFit in 2014 and I quickly changed my gym routine for CrossFit WODs and never looked back.
My favorite part about coaching is the buzz when I see everyone cheering each other on to finish their workouts; something special is going on at that moment, people pushing beyond their barriers to achieve things they never thought they were capable of because of the surrounding support. I like to encourage my athletes to develop and focus on fundamentals, mechanics and good form, while still addressing strength, speed, and efficiency. Each WOD is a new opportunity to overcome new challenges, push beyond my limits, and test my physical and mental strength. When I am not at the gym I love to read, hang out with my husband and appreciate art.
